Photography is something I have always loved. How could I not when I was raised within a family of photographers. Diligently becoming a third generation wedding photographer. My grandfather & his brothers started a small wedding business before enlisting in the US Airforce as aerial photographers in WWII. My Father continued portrait and weddings work around his love of fine art and abstract photography. With cameras around my childhood it sure did make it easy to have photography as a vocation. At that time becoming a professional photographer was not my ambition. Sure, playing photographer as a child in the basement darkroom & the classes I took in school as a teen were fun. But I ultimately had my future set on another career path when I graduated high school. My love for people & human interactions led me to study the social sciences at the University at Buffalo. Continuing learning on the weekends, I assisted my father on weddings. (what a fun way to make a little extra money during the summer while in college!) Then one wedding I vividly remember, he gave me a Nikon 35mm camera, a few professional lenses, a roll of B&W film & encouraged me to shoot anything that moved me. With that, I started to capture real moments & my love for photojournalism was born!
I started expanding my professional horizons & portraits were an immediate fit. I absolutely adore working with newborns & kids of all ages! There is really no sweeter way to spend a day, then capturing little ones precious moments. I have always been a natural light based artist, driving my portrait style. With real light, in real situations, and with real emotion I can create amazing memories. Newborns, kids, families & events are much more than just a session for me. Lifestyle sessions are a way for me to record precious memories in your families lives. A moment in life that you have honored me with capturing for you. By photographing these moments inside your homes or in a place that is special to your family, I am able to bring that intimate journalism that I love so much with my weddings, into my portraits. When you hire a photographer, you are entrusting that artist with capturing history for you. My relationship with my clients is as close as my relationship with my images. I truly love my choices, honestly I say, I’m one of the luckiest people I know!
To me, photography is an art of observation. Its about finding something interesting in an ordinary place Ive found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. Elliott Erwitt
Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. Aaron Siskind
Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography. George Eastman
